Microsoft, with all their money have done it again – they’ve somehow convinced me that the next IE is going to be the bees knees by introducing me to a HTML5 version of cut-the-ropes – http://www.cuttherope.ie/ – then backed it up with a developer page – http://origin.cuttherope.ie/dev/ – which is making me consider whether or not to now download IE10 and be fooled all over again….

A good write-up by someone who was at first sceptical about the TechStars program – http://kevinprentiss.com/?p=156
Speaking of TechStars, two of their projects just got some serious funding:

US$1.2 Million for Vizify – http://techcrunch.com/2012/01/03/vizify-raises-1-2-million-to-help-you-make-a-great-first-impression-online/

MongoDB Pagination – http://sourceforge.net/projects/mongopagination/ and MongoQueue – https://github.com/lunaru/mongoqueue – are both seemingly useful add-on classes for PHP – the queue will be useful for MongoMail, but as for the pagination – will have to let @ali take a closer look…
It’s a simple class – will work and nicely – but – it will not solve the problem with Skip – and performance on very large collections. (eg. millions of matches)
It doesn’t limit the range depending on previously passed in limiting factor – which does improve the performance – IF – the previous greatest attribute is known.
As far as I know – there is NO solution at the moment to arbitrarily selecting a random page – towards the end of a very large collection – performance for this is MUCH WORSE than the analogous operation in MySQL
